Vic: Victorians say "no" to pokies, heroin and sorry, poll

A Melbourne newspaper poll says Victorians have given a resounding no to poker machines,
heroin injecting rooms and saying sorry to the stolen generation.

The poll in today's Herald Sun newspaper shows that 67 per cent of Victorians back
Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD'S decision not to apologise to Aborigines.

It also has found that 85 per cent of those polled believe there are too many poker
machines in Victoria.

More than two-thirds are opposed to supervised drug injecting rooms, and 61 per are
against providing free needles to addicts.

Other findings of the survey, taken from 2,000 Victorians, also include that more than
80 per cent are worried about single mothers having children just to get welfare payments
and almost 60 per cent believe they're worse off since the introduction of the GST.

Also, it found that almost 70 per are against the federal government selling its remaining
share of Telstra.
