Fed: Thousands miss out on uni places

MELBOURNE, Jan 18 AAP - While thousands of Australian students are tonight celebrating
getting into a university course, more than 45,000 would be heartbroken that they had
missed out because of a lack of federal government funding, the opposition said.

Students in Victoria, NSW and ACT discovered tonight whether they had been accepted
into their course of choice, but shadow education minister Jenny Macklin said for many
the news would be disappointing.
